Only 3 more days…. but we’ve got a little something for you as a reward for your patience. “The traps we made” is one of the songs on “Looking Skyward”. Hope you enjoy it. Read more about the album in an interview on Releasemagazine.net
It’s a question we get a lot. Apparantly the B-side of our new single is just as popular as the A-side. So why did we leave it off the album?
We had written all the songs for “Looking Skyward” and had decided on the single “Kill Your Darlings” when the B-side question came up.
It’s always a dilemma as it means taking something off the album and that is not easy to decide on. So we decided to write something specifically for the job. Mark found a piece of music that I wrote last year and started writing lyrics to it whilst we were in the studio mixing other songs. That evening he laid down all the vocals tracks and the song with the working title “What’s Happening To Us” was born.
The following morning we presented the new song to our record company and a few others that were there. Everyone said “No way is this a B-Side. It’s far too good” Ahh great…back to square one. So together with Jan Winterfeld (our tour manager) and Stefan Herwig (record company), we decided that “Paper Thin” should be replaced on the album with the new track and “Paper Thin” become the B-Side. “What’s Happening To Us” later became “Circles” and only appears on the Deluxe version of the album on the second disc.
Hope that clears that up.

Just one more day left until the new MESH Single “Kill Your Darlings”, will be released. We are really pleased how the video came out. It all seems very relevant to what’s going on in our world today. However: No babies, keyboard players or drummers were harmed during the making of this video.
The new single and the forthcoming album are also available for preorder now:
2013’s album “Automation Baby” was going to be a hard act to follow. It has given us a great deal of success and it’s an album that we love very much. It has literally been our ‘baby’.
Subsequently, it’s been a long road since we started the first tentative demos almost 2 years ago. Initial progress was slow as we experimented with different ideas, writing methods and lots of new technology.
We finally got into our stride and the last 18 months has been very productive, challenging, exciting and rewarding. We’ve been walking the streets with audio recorders making samples, worked on phones, tablets and laptops, recorded demos all over the World on iPads and portable microphones. Olaf has been in his element and it has given him a great opportunity to indulge in his love of modular synth nerdiness.
We’ve recorded in studios both in the UK and Germany and we’ve mixed remotely ‘live’ across Europe using some really cool new software. We’re even writing our own software to control our new live shows in September. And this is just the music! We’ve broken into abandoned buildings to take photos, created the artwork and made a video. And we’ve made a LOT of paper airplanes….
We really set our sights high and have poured our hearts and souls into creating “Looking Skyward”. The album takes you on a journey of energy and emotion set to a moving soundscape of electronics, driving rhythms, atmospheres, samples and noise.
We set out to push ourselves as far as we could and produce an album that we would want to own and love. We hope that we have achieved our goal and that you all enjoy the results for many years to come.
Since we did not want to give out all those mouthwatering info without some new audio, here is a new video teaser for the Single “Kill Your Darlings”.
Recently, it has been curiously quiet in the camp of MESH, but Mark Hockings and Rich Silverthorn have worked hard on their new album, the first single and an accompanying video. The track ‚Kill Your Darlings‘ comes out on July 8 on CD and limited vinyl. As a first impression of this great song, which the band will also perform at Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, Germany, watch the video teaser. Due to these scheduled releases, we decided to push back the release of MESH’s classical live album recorded at the Gewandhaus Leipzig until winter, but be sure that the band won’t miss a beat up till then.
